  Capacitors used for power factor correction undergo a lot of switching operations. The high

PHASECAP ® AC CAPACITORS - [ USEFUL LIFE UP TO 100,000 OPERATING HOURS ]    
  After a long drying phase in high vacuum to eliminate moisture from the active element, the
  capacitor is filled with biodegradeable soft resin. This production helps to avoid oxidation and
  partial discharges, promoting capacitance stability over a long period.
  Phicap is a self-healing, metalized polypropylene film capacitor. The current carrying AIZ
  mental layer (the best alloy for an electrode) is vapor-deposited once one side of the film, the
  surface of the dieelectric.
   
   
PHASECAP ® AC CAPACITORS - [ COMPACT DESIGN - LOW WEIGHT AND VOLUME ]    
  The entire three-phase capacitor is composed of three single-phase element stacks. The
  electrodes are connected by metal spraying the face endsof the windingelements.The winding
  elements are encapsulated in a cylindrical aluminum case and hermetically sealed by a press
  rolled metal lid or plastic disk with fast-on terminals.
   
   
PHICAP ® AC CAPACITORS - [ DUAL SAFETY SYSTEMS]    
  Self-healing: the capacitor repairs itself after overload. Self-healing capability prevents
  permanent dielectric breakdown in the event of sporadic voltage surges, over current or over
  temperature.
  Overpressure disconnector: this prevents the capacitor from bursting at the end of its useful
  life or through electricalor thermal overload. In the event of permanent self-healing attempts
  caused by repetitive, very highpeak voltages or other overload, there can be permanent
  breakdown. The safety switching device is then activated and disconnects the capacitor
  winding elements from the power source by an internal pressure increase (expansion of the
  capacitor case).

  Becauseof the increase in capacitor height on breakdown, it is necessary to provide enough
  clearance above the capacitor terminals.

  When specifying and selecting capacitors for PEC, there are several factors affecting
  performance and useful life.
  Voltage,
  Harmonics,
  Temperature,
  Inrush current.
  Permanent overvoltage shortens the useful life of a capacitor. The capacitors nominal voltage
  must be equal to or greater than the operating voltage of the circuit the capacitor will be
  connected to.
  Harmoncis produce overvoltage and overcurrent on capacitors. If the total harmoinc distortion
  level for voltage exceeds 5% for example, serious damage can be caused by circuit resonace.
  In such cases series reactors (detuning) and recommended.
  Operation of capacitors above the upper catagory temperature will accelerate degradation of
  the dielectric and shorten the capacitor's useful life.
  Residual voltage should not exceed 10% of rated voltage when reswitching capacitors. During
  the charging period of capacitors the current is very high - in automatic capacitor bank it is
  very like that discharged capacitors will be connected to charged ones already connected to
  the grid. In such cases the maximum admissible transient peak current is 100 * IN.
  During the switching process, thermal and electrodynamics stress is produced by transient
  overcurrents of high amplitude and frequency and may damage the system. Capacitor
  contactors with precharging resistors or series inductance (twinned cables between contactor
  and capacitor) will avoid excessive transient currents.
